This laugh-out-loud all singing, all dancing comedy is the perfect remedy for those who have been longing for a night out at the theatre. You may be familiar with the film version of The Producers - Mel Brooks' classic 1967 cult comedy starring Gene Wilder, or more recently, the 2005 remake starring Will Ferrell, Matthew Broderick and Uma Thurman. As a big Broadway musical, The Producers set the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face humour, winning a record twelve Tony Awards. So, what’s the plot? A down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered, nervous accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history thereby swindling their backers (all "little old ladies") out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit! The show follows the antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they manoeuvre their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously offensive "Springtime For Hitler"), hiring a director, raising the money and finally going to prison for their misdeeds. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends. With a truly hysterical book co-written by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan (known for Annie and Hairspray) and music and lyrics by Mr. Brooks, The Producers definitely isn't one to miss!
